Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer sea and air cargo options?
At Multiplus Global, we offer both sea and air freight services depending upon your needs.
What are the key differences in shipping by air vs. sea?
The main difference between the options is the transit time (air being the fastest option), and also pricing (with sea being the cheapest option).
When do I make payment?
All packages and cargo shipments must be prepaid by cash, check, money order or by credit card before the items are prepared for shipping overseas or domestic delivery. Cost estimates can be made prior to shipping and the flexibility applies for commercial orders. The final price can be determined once we have confirmed your shipments weight and dimensions.
Transit Times
Sea shipments can take 6-8 weeks for FCL shipments and door-to-door depending on your origin/destination. Air shipments typically take under a week door-2-door after accounting for flight schedules, road transportation and customs clearance.
Freight Charges
Sea freight charges are primarily based on origin/destination ports and the container size if shipping a Full Container Load (FCL) and based on cargo volume if shipping Less than a Container Load (LCL). Items sent by airfreight are charged a specific price per pound (lb.) or per kilogram (kg.) depending on which airport these are destined to.
What are the container sizes/ capacity for FCL vs LCL if I want to ship by sea? Will I need a full container, and what are costs for each variable size?
LCL shipments are meant for smaller size cargo. Your LCL shipment will share container space with other LCL shipments and therefore, the cost to you is less than what you would pay for a full container. On the other hand, if you need to ship large items etc then you want to think about FCL. If you are not sure, do let us know and we will give you our LCL rates and FCL rates.
How is volume calculated for ocean shipments? What is the unit of measure?
When shipping by ocean, the most common units of measure are Cubic Feet (Cu Ft or CFT) and Cubic Meter (CBM). Volume in CFT is calculated using the formula L x W x H / 1728.
